Next generation of UK entrepreneurs shows resilience in the recession

You are probably sick of all the press coverage on the recession but there was one interesting article in from the UK regarding the effect of the recession on young entrepreneurs there.  Shell LiveWIRE which has 97,000 members and supports young entrepreneurs polled a sample of 16-30 year olds who have started, or plan to start, their own businesses. Of these young British entrepreneurs who were polled from May-March 2009:

  • 30% say the recession has made them more determined than ever to succeed
  • 21% say it has inspired them to refocus their business
  • 20% have diversified in to other areas to ‘recession-proof’ their business
  • 17% say it has led them to interrogate their business plan more thoroughly

How is the recession affecting your business? Post a comment here or let us know.
